The European Commission has now scheduled the long-awaited Circular Economy Act for 11 November 2026, as is shown in the tentative agenda of the Commission's next meetings published on 29/09/2026.

The final proposal is expected to be presented jointly by Teresa Ribera, Commission Vice-President for a Clean, Just and Fair Transition and Internal Market Commissioner Stéphane Séjourné, rather than Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall.

Initially scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, the publication of the Circular Economy Act had been delayed because of the rejection of its impact assessment by the Regulatory Scrutiny Board. Commissioner Roswall had mentioned, on 21 September 2026, that "the Commission was working on this, with a revised impact assessment expected in October".
