ESG rating providers: publication of the information to be submitted to the ESMA for authorisation (OJEU)

The information to be included in applications for authorisation and recognition of environmental, social and governance (ESG) rating providers is set out in a Delegated Regulation of the European Commission, published in the Official Journal of the EU on 1 September 2026.

These regulatory technical standards, to be submitted to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), supplement a regulation of 27 November 2024 on the transparency and integrity of ESG rating activities.

The delegated regulation therefore introduces new information requirements, such as:
• proof of good repute for members of the senior management of providers, as well as an official certificate or equivalent proof regarding the absence of convictions for certain criminal offences;
