"Right to repair: France leads the way in Europe" (T. Seygnerole, HOP)

The European Directive on the right to repair, which came into force on 31 July 2024, was due to be transposed into national law by 31 July 2026 at the latest. So far, this has only been done in five EU countries: Slovakia, Lithuania, Croatia, Finland and Ireland.

“France is indeed behind schedule, as are 21 other Member States, but legislative work is underway, and Directive 2024/1799 is expected to be transposed into the French Ddadue Act (Miscellaneous Provisions for Adaptation to European Union Law), expected by the end of 2026, which will transpose in French law various European directives and delegated acts,” T. Seygnerole, European advocacy officer at the association Halte à l’Obsolescence Programmée (HOP), told News Tank on 31 August 2026.
