FR / Ultra-fast fashion: publication of the decree setting the amounts of financial penalties

The decree setting the amounts of the financial penalties imposed on textile products falling within the ultra-fast-fashion category was published on 28 August 2026 in the French Official Journal.

Pursuant to the Act of 8 July 2026, this decree comes into force on 1 September 2026: it increases the eco-contributions payable to the eco-organisation Refashion by textile sector companies based outside the EU that place a high volume of products on the market and provide little incentive to repair them (the decree also stipulates that they must now display an online message encouraging the repair of clothing). These two combined measures are designed primarily to target online ultra-fast-fashion platforms, which have a significant environmental and social impact.
