EU Commission: publication of a new guidance on CBAM to assist verifiers and accreditation bodies

The European Commission released a new guidance on CBAM verification and accreditation for verifiers and National Accreditation Bodies, on 24 August 2026.

The guidance is meant to clarify the requirements of the CBAM Regulation in accessible language, especially for verifiers who plan to check emissions reports submitted by facility operators located outside the EU, whose goods are subject to CBAM since 1 January 2026. It also specifies the requirements that National Accreditation Bodies (NABs) must meet when accrediting and monitoring these verifiers.
