SDGs: MEPs adopted their report forming the basis of the Parliament's position ahead of the UN Summit

The European Parliament adopted a report that will form the basis of its position for the UN High-Level Political Forum, by 374 votes in favour, 185 against, and 74 abstentions, during a plenary session on 07/07/2026, in Strasbourg.

This position will be defended by a joint delegation of MEPs that will be attending to the Summit held in New York from 07/07 to 15/07.

In the report, MEPs :
• "acknowledge that the global community is severely off track in its efforts to achieve the SDG targets by the 2030 deadline ;
• are alarmed by the annual investment gap of approximately $4 trillion in funding needed to achieve them, a gap exacerbated by declining official development assistance (ODA) levels across the world ;
• want the EU and its member states to honour their funding commitments and…
