FR / Environmental law: 30 organisations have lodged two appeals against the simplification decree

An urgent appeal and an appeal on the merits against the decree simplifying environmental law have been lodged by 30 organisations, including Notre Affaires à Tous, France Nature Environnement, Greenpeace, the LPO and Data for Good, supported by the Syndicat des Avocats de France, the collective announced on 19 June 2026.

These appeals call for “the immediate suspension and annulment of the decree of 21 April by the Council of State”.

This decree, known as the “decree on the simplification of litigation procedures in environmental matters and the acceleration of certain projects”, “brings about several major changes to environmental law, with worrying consequences”, explain the applicants.

Among these, the group cites in particular:
• “the removal of access to courts of first instance; applicants will therefore have to bring their cases directly before the Administrative Court of Appeal, a more distant court;
• the removal of the effect of administrative appeals on the calculation of the time limit for judicial appeals;
