Renewable gases: “Players are slowing down their international expansion plans” (Timothé Husser, Blunomy)

"The context has become a little more difficult for biomethane in Europe since 2024, after a big boom in the wake of the Covid years and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. The players are adapting their strategy accordingly, and many are now focused on consolidating their portfolio and rolling out their pipeline of projects under development, and have for the time being slowed down their ambitions for geographical expansion", Timothé Husser, Director of Renewable Gas and Bioenergy at Blunomy, told News Tank on 18/05/2026.

"Investor interest, on the other hand, has remained strong over the last five to six years. They are generally motivated by the desire to diversify into renewable energies, having previously been involved in solar and wind power, and most of them see the important long-term role of renewable gases in the energy and climate transition, despite the short-term challenges".
