The Regulation (EU) 2026/1030 of 29/04/2026, named CountEmissionsEU, has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union, on 12/05/2026.

This long-awaited regulation establishes a harmonised EU framework for calculating and reporting greenhouse gas emissions from transport services, covering both freight and passenger transport across all modes. The objective is to ensure that emissions data communicated by operators are reliable, comparable and transparent, while limiting greenwashing and facilitating informed choices by customers and companies.

The regulation is based on the EN ISO 14083:2023 standard. It applies whenever companies choose, or are required, to disclose emissions data related to transport services starting or ending in the EU. It does not create a general obligation to report emissions, but imposes a common methodology when such reporting takes place.
