GHG emissions in the EU: publication of the annual limit values of LULUCF and emission allocations (EC)

The European Commission published the binding annual targets for net GHG removals from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF) for each Member State of the EU and their annual Emission Allocations under the Effort Sharing Regulation on 24/04/2026. The first one covers the period between 2026 and 2029 and the second covers 2026-2030.

The LULUCF Regulation sets binding annual net removal targets for Member States, while the Effort Sharing Regulation sets Member States' annual emission allocations in sectors not included in the EU ETS. Both regulations will enter into force on 14/05/2026.
