"France must simultaneously mobilise all levers for decarbonisation": this is one of the conclusions of the study entitled « Réussir la transition dans l’incertitude », published by the French association The Shift Project on 14/04/2026.

The document is the first technical component of the future "Plan robuste pour l'économie française", which constitutes a reassessment of the recommendations of the "Plan de transformation de l'économie française", taking into account the likely uncertainties over the next 25 years.

The Shift Project has identified 20 priority areas for decarbonising France, in the transport, housing, digital, industry, agriculture and energy sectors. Five other lessons can be drawn from this work:
• France can succeed in decarbonising its economy if it makes this a political and economic priority from the next five years onwards;
• Massive electrification of equipments is essential to decarbonise the economy;
• It implies a sharp increase in low-carbon electricity production, including nuclear and renewable energies;
