Illegal landfill sites: trial of Nestlé Waters Supply Est begins on 23/03 at the Nancy court

The trial of Nestlé Waters Supply Est will take place from 23 to 27/03/2026, before the Nancy judicial court (Meurthe-et-Moselle), according to French association France Nature Environnement (FNE), one of the sueing associations, on 10/03.

The company is accused of having abandoned illegal landfill sites around its bottling plants in the Vosges region, leading to water and soil pollution with "extremely worrying quantities of microplastics".

For FNE, Lorraine Nature Environnement and Vosges Nature Environnement, "what is at stake in this historic trial is the company's responsibility and the future of these landfill sites in view of the risks to the environment and the health of people living nearby".

These factories were bought from Vittel in 1992, along with their landfill sites, of which Nestlé was aware "as early as 2014 but did not inform the State until 2021", indicated Sophie Dubois, Chairman of Nestlé France, in 2021.
