A target of 12% for organic products in the overall food consumption of the French; limiting the consumption of meat, particularly imported meat; experimenting with producer remuneration labelling; reducing food waste by 50%; rolling out voluntary environmental labelling for food products: these are some of the objectives and levers of the Snanc (National Strategy for Food, Nutrition and Climate), published by the three French ministries (Agriculture, Ecological Transition and Health) responsible for its elaboration on 11/02/2025.

Left on the desk of the former Prime Minister, François Bayrou, since the end of the public consultation in April 2025, the Snanc document has been the subject of interministerial reworking. Although publication was scheduled for 28/11/2025, it was again postponed. Finally, the current Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu validated it and its publication is now effective.

The quantified objective of reducing meat consumption or the notion of limiting ultra-processed products, present in the former versions of the Strategy, have been removed from the final text.
