FR: Mathieu Lefèvre has announced the creation of a single environmental authority by 1 May 2027

Mathieu Lefèvre, Minister of State for Ecological Transition, announced the creation of a single Environmental Authority (AE) within the General Inspectorate for the Environment and Sustainable Development (IGEDD) on 15 October 2026.

It will come into effect by 1 May 2027. Simplified procedures, “to ensure more predictable advice for project developers and a greater environmental impact of the advice”, are also planned.

This decision follows the submission of the report by Laurent Michel, Chair of the AE, dated 1 October 2026.
