Commission: presentation of the EU Water Resilience investment accelerator to support 20 pilot projets

The European Commission publicly presented the EU Water Resilience investment accelarator which will support 20 pilots projects on natural retention, clean water and water efficiency, on 14 October 2026.

The initiative is supported by Green Assist, an advisory initiative under InvestEU, funded by the LIFE programme (up to €30M).

According to the Commission, this initiative will bring together investors, solutions providers, and sectors facing water-related challenges. It focuses on innovative business models and projects with creative funding approaches — particularly private funding.

The aim is also to help to close the investment gap, estimated “at around €23Bn per year to implement existing water legislation”.
