European Climate Foundation: Jochen Flasbarth appointed CEO, effective February 2027

Jochen Flasbarth is appointed CEO of the European Climate Foundation, effective on 1 February 2027, “subject to completion of his transition from German public service”, the organisation announced on 6 October 2026.

The current State Secretary in Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety will succeed Laurence Tubiana. She has led the Foundation since 2017.

Jochen Flasbarth began his career in environmental civil society and served as President of NABU, one of Germany’s largest environmental organisations, from 1992 to 2003. Then, he held senior governance and advisory roles across international development, energy and environmental policy.
