Eurobarometer: EU Ecolabel gains consumer trust (+6%) and market reach

The European Commission released on 8 October 2026 a new Eurobarometer survey on the EU Ecolabel, on the occasion of World Ecolabel Day. It shows increased trust in and recognition of the label among European consumers, who are increasingly looking for sustainable products.

Among European consumers, 81% are confident that EU Ecolabel products have a lower environmental impact than similar products on the market, compared with 75% in 2023. Nearly half of Europeans (46%) recognise the "flower" logo, up 8 percentage points since 2023. Almost two Europeans out of three (66%) say they often or sometimes buy any kind of eco-labelled products. As for products carrying the EU Ecolabel, 46% say they often or sometimes buy them, also up 8 points since 2023.
