COP 31: the priorities addressed by the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders and CAN Europe ahead of the event

“COP31 must be a COP of implementation. The EU should use its political and economic weight to help translate the outcomes of the first Global Stocktake into concrete action”, CAN Europe says in a position paper on COP 31, published on 5 October 2026.

Among the key demands, the NGO calls on the EU to :
• Make the Belém-Antalya Mechanism a vehicle for delivering a just transition.
• Turn the transition away from fossil fuels into a global implementation agenda.
• Scale up public climate finance for implementation and addressing climate impacts.
• Shift financial flows and reform economic frameworks to enable climate action.
