Carbios and partners achieve complete validation of their recycled polyester T-shirt value chain

The French biotech firm Carbios and its partners in the ‘fibre-to-fibre’ consortium (Puma, Patagonia, Salomon) have announced that they have successfully demonstrated the industrial production of T-shirts made from recycled polyester derived from complex plastic and textile waste on 29 September in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme).

The validation covers the entire textile value chain, from pre-industrial recycling to industrial processing, utilising the enzymatic recycling technology developed by Carbios.

All stages were carried out in France, Spain and Portugal, under standard industrial conditions, and the fibres obtained (Enzytex 1) have demonstrated perfect compatibility with conventional textile processes, as well as performance characteristics (mechanical strength, dyeability and…
