Biotech Open Platform: Michelin and Danone partner to launch industrial biotechnology platform in France

Biotech Open Platform (BIOP) inaugurated its industrial biotechnology platform on 29 September 2026, two years after being set up by Danone, Michelin, DMC Biotechnologies, Crédit Agricole Centre France, Clermont Auvergne Innovation and Greentech. Located at the Sustainable Materials Center (and neighbouring Carbios' facility) within Michelin's Innovation Park - Cataroux in Clermont-Ferrand (France), the platform has welcomed its first advanced fermentation projects.

The first phase of the infrastructure represents an investment of more than €20 million and turns a project announced in 2024 into a fully operational industrial facility. It includes a complete fermentation line with a capacity of up to 15 m³ and semi-industrial purification systems, which the partners describe as facilities…
