Water resilience: Commission and Germany jointly committed to boost the implementation of EU legislation

Germany concluded a structured dialogue process with the European Commission, and committed to strengthening the implementation of EU water legislation by signing a joint statement on 5 October 2026 in Berlin.

The joint statement was signed by Carsten Schneider, Germany’s Federal Minister for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy. This declaration represents “a renewed partnership and a joint determination to secure a water-resilient, clean and prosperous future for Germany”.
