“For every dollar spent protecting nature, thirty go to destroying it. Reforming harmful subsidies is one of the biggest levers to close the gap”. This is one of the main recommendations expressed by the Paulson Institute, The Nature Conservancy, and WWF, on 23 September 2026.

In their report, untitled “Financing Nature — a mid-decade update from isolated progress to implementation at scale”, they stressed that “more than half of global GDP, roughly US$ 58 000Bn, is moderately or highly dependent on nature”.

The World Bank warns that “the collapse of just a few ecosystems, among them pollination, fisheries, and timber, could cost the world US$ 2 700Bn a year by 2030”, the report said.
