Union for the Mediterranean: adoption of a water roadmap to 2030 and launch of the "Rome Initiative"

Water ministers and senior officials from the 43 member states of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) adopted a Second Ministerial Declaration on Water covering 2026 to 2030, and calling for greater cross-border cooperation, during their 2nd ministerial meeting on water, held in Rome on 28 September 2026.

Following the First Ministerial Declaration on water, adopted in Malta in 2017, this second Declaration sets out the region's priorities for reaching the water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) between 2026 and 2030.
