ISO/UNDP 53001: world’s first ISO standard to advance action on UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched the world’s first International Standard for managing contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), called ISO/UNDP 53001, the two organisations announced on 28 September 2026, during the ISO Annual Meeting, hosted by AFNOR in Paris.

The standard aims to provide a practical framework for embedding SDG commitments into governance, strategy, and daily operations “to help organizations move beyond commitment towards measurable implementation and continual improvement”. As of today, only 17% of the SDG targets are on track to be met by the 2030 deadline, a decade after the goals were adopted in 2015."
