"We welcome Commissioner Roswall's recognition that demand is where the Act must deliver" (FEAD)

Commissioner Jessika Roswall explained, during a Q&A session organised by The Circular Economist network on 21 september, that "most of the Regulatory Scrutiny Board's criticism, which led to the rejection of the impact assessment of the Circular Economy Act proposal in mid-July, concerned the fact that it did not sufficiently take the demand side into account". Commissioner Roswall added that the Commission is working on this, including through public procurement and other instruments, with a revised impact assessment expected in October. The publication of the Act would now take place at the end of 2026.
