EU Commission: €126m for cross-border renewable projects in Germany, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania

The European Commission approved nearly €126 million in grants from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to finance three cross-border renewable energy projects (C-RES), on 18 September 2026.

The funding is intended to strengthen cooperation between Member States on renewable energy infrastructure, covering two heating projects shared between Germany and Poland and a wind farm near the Latvia-Lithuania border.

Under this initiative, funding will flow into two main activities: shifting district heating networks toward climate-neutral operation by phasing out fossil-based generation, and building new onshore wind capacity to bring more renewable power into the Baltic electricity system.
