€1.4 billion: this is the total amount of funding, comprising private equity (€830 million) and debt, grants, guarantees and loans (€565 million), for French cleantech companies in the first half of 2026, according to figures from Cleantech for France, published by News Tank on 17 September 2026.

The level of private equity has remained stable for the past two years, according to the coalition of manufacturers and investors. Of the €565 million in additional funding, €215 million comes from French government grants.

Energy is the largest sector in terms of investment volume, accounting for 39 per cent of the total, followed by ‘resources and environmental management’ (21 per cent) and ‘agriculture and food’ (19 per cent).
