State of the EU 2026: a new framework for climate resilience and a Climate Insurance Alliance announced

“We will present a new framework for climate resilience next month. We will identify 100 of the most vulnerable territories in Europe, and we will assess the risks - and at which level they should be managed,” announced Ursula Von der Leyen on 16 September 2026, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, during her State of the European Union address.

“We need both mitigation and adaptation, and they need to strengthen each other. This is the only way to reach climate resilience. But we need to step up dramatically on preparedness,” continued the President of the European Commission.
