“Miquelon's relocations are closely monitored” (N. Moutchou, French Minister for Overseas Territories)

“The solutions being explored by Miquelon are being closely scrutinised in mainland France, in Quebec with the Magdalen Islands, and more broadly across all the Pacific islands, which are set to be affected in the near future [by the challenges of relocation due to climate-related risks], even though, in the Pacific, we have already relocated two villages,” emphasised Naïma Moutchou, French Minister for Overseas Territories, in her opening remarks at the symposium “Miquelon: Memories and Legacies in the Face of Climate Risks”, held on 8 September 2026.
