Google: Energy and environmental features of the €13Bn investment in digital infrastructure in Finland

Google announced plans to invest €13 billion in digital infrastructure in Finland over the next two years (2027 - 2028) on 09 September 2026. This is Google’s largest single investment in Europe to date: it includes data center and other supporting infrastructure investments and partnerships in four areas (Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos and Vaala).

As part of this investment, Google is supporting clean energy projects, notably through PPAs with Fortum and Valorem, and dedicated nature and community funds to support local biodiversity and resources.
