Offshore wind: £778,000 Scottish public funding for BW Ideol’s float factory

Highlands and Islands Enterprise is awarding £778,000 (€907,000) to BW Ideol to develop its project for a manufacturing plant producing floats for offshore wind turbines, the French company announced on 8 September 2026.

This funding will support an 18-month preliminary technical design study with a view to establishing the industrial site at the port of Ardersier (Scotland). Highlands and Islands Enterprise is a public agency for economic and regional development under the Scottish Government, operating in the north and west of Scotland.

Once operational, the plant will mass-produce floating concrete foundations based on BW Ideol’s Damping Pool technology, which is designed for floating offshore wind farms. The site is designed to produce one foundation every 12 days from a single…
