European Investment Bank (EIB) backs feasibility study for Morocco’s first offshore wind farm

The European Investment Bank has awarded a technical assistance contract to a consortium of Moroccan and European companies to carry out a feasibility study for Morocco’s first offshore wind farm, off the coast of Essaouira, on 3 September 2026.

The contract, worth €2 million, is scheduled to run for two years.

The project is led by the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen) which is drawing on the expertise gained by the wind energy sector in other regions. The technical assistance provided by the consortium is intended to enable Masen to carry out the various studies required to assess the project’s feasibility.
