Climate adaptation finance: UNIDO and Kenya Climate Ventures deepen partnership for resilience in Africa

The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and Kenya Climate Ventures (KCV) signed a Joint Declaration on 2 September 2026 to expand climate resilience and adaptation financing across Sub-Saharan Africa. The agreement was announced at the Adaptation Investment Summit for Africa 2026 in Nairobi.

The partnership reflects a broader shift toward blended finance for African climate adaptation, a model the EU has also pursued via the EFSD+ and Global Gateway strategy, using guarantees to de-risk private investment. The EU and member states have mobilised billions in climate finance in recent years, much towards adaptation.
