COP17/desertification: France welcomes the results despite “a difficult multilateral context”

France welcomes the outcomes of COP 17 on combating desertification and land degradation, despite “a particularly challenging multilateral context”, according to the Ministry for Ecological Transition, following the conclusion of the event on 29 August 2026.

COP 17, which took place from 17 to 28 August in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, “shed light on a growing number of initiatives aimed at strengthening and accelerating action against land degradation and climate change, and in support of biodiversity conservation, in conjunction with the implementation of sustainable development policies”, the MTE continues.

In particular, it highlights the creation of the French hub for the “Business for Land” initiative, which aims to bring together French companies committed to soil conservation.
