SAF: Nova Pangaea successfully completes endurance trials of REFNOVA, using waste biomass as feedstock

UK SAF producer Nova Pangaea Technologies announced it has successfully completed endurance trials of its unique process for producing carbon-negative sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from waste biomass on 25 August 2026.

The trials, which took place at its demonstration plant on Teesside (UK), show continuous stable operation in production runs of up to 72 hours and achieved above target yields. It further validates Nova Pangaea's process, REFNOVA, which converts waste biomass - including wood chips, sawdust and wheat straw - into ethanol, used to produce SAF or renewable diesel. It also yields biochar, a co-product that captures carbon, making the process carbon-negative overall.
