Automatic waste sorting: "We want to renew a market that is still very outdated" (L. Callegarini, Etrash)

"Today, if you ask any company, it's unlikely they'll be able to tell you how much plastic, paper, organic, or general waste they produce," says Leonardo Callegarini, developer and one of the six founders of Etrash, a startup based in Treviso, Italy, working in the field of automated waste sorting.

Founded in 2021 by a group of engineers and industry professionals, Etrash develops smart bins that can recognise waste and automatically sort it into the correct compartment using artificial intelligence.

"What we're trying to do is bring innovation to the world of waste sorting, to renew a market that is currently quite outdated, by automating the process of waste separation and sorting and providing companies with the data they need to improve their disposal process," Callegarini explains…
