France: adoption of the 2025-2030 national strategy for integrated coastline management

France adopted its National Coastline Management Strategy 2025-2030 through a prime ministerial decree dated 20 August 2026, published the following day in the Official Journal.

This revised text constitutes the “reference framework for public policy on adapting the coastal zone to the effects of climate change”. Building on the two previous dedicated programmes (2012-2025 and 2017-2019), it also takes into account the Reference Warming Trajectory for Climate Change Adaptation (TRACC).

“The issue of coastal erosion, and more broadly the effects of climate change on the coastal zone, calls into question our ability to implement spatial planning policies that consider both natural hazards and the socio-economic challenges facing coastal areas,” states the preamble to the revised strategy…
