IFRS Foundation: Geneva chosen as location for new International Sustainability Standards Board office

The International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation (IFRS) has chosen Geneva as the location for the new office of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), announced the organisation on 18 August 2026. The opening, which will serve as the seat of the ISSB, will be effective in 2027.

Formed on 3 November 2021 at COP26 in Glasgow, the ISSB is developing international standards for the disclosure of sustainability-related information intended for financial markets. It aims to “enable companies to report their sustainability-related risks and opportunities, particularly in the area of climate change”, specifies the IFRS.
