REP Professional Packaging: postponement of the scheme’s operational implementation until 1 January 2027

The operational roll-out of the EPR scheme for commercial packaging has been postponed until 1 January 2027, according to an announcement made by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature, on 28 July 2026.

“The EU-level work aimed at identifying the economic operators required to contribute to this scheme has not yet been finalised, which means that many economic operators do not know whether they are required to register with one of the scheme’s three eco-organisations. Furthermore, the late publication of the eco-organisations’ fee scales has prevented these operators from factoring this new cost into their business models,” the Ministry stated in justification of this postponement.
