FR / EV Social leasing: “Consultation with the Haut Conseil à l'Energie to double it” (R. Lescure)

“The only way to tackle this crisis in the long term, of course, is to break free from our dependence on fossil fuels. So we need to electrify. We have launched a consultation with the Haut Conseil à l'Energie to double the French current social leasing scheme,” announced the Minister for the Economy, Roland Lescure, on 23 July 2026.

This measure forms part of the electrification plan, which aims to expand the social leasing scheme for electric vehicles for ‘frequent drivers’ and home care workers. Implementation is scheduled for 1 October 2026.

In response to the resurgence of conflict in the Middle East and its impact on fuel prices, the minister has made several announcements. The ‘frequent drivers’ scheme, which was due to close on 31 July, will remain open until 31 August.
