MICHELIN ResiCare / IMCD Europe: partnership for the European distribution of 5-HMF

Michelin ResiCare and IMCD Europe have announced the signing of a partnership for the European distribution of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) on 23 July 2026 at Péage de Roussillon (Isère), Michelin ResiCare’s 5-HMF production site.
In addition to the distribution provided by Michelin to its own customers, IMCD Europe will market 5-HMF, produced by MICHELIN ResiCare, in order to broaden access to this molecule derived from renewable resources (notably fructose), dubbed the “sleeping giant” of green chemistry.
The French production facility, scheduled to come on stream in the first quarter of 2027, will have an annual capacity of three thousand tonnes.
