Commission: "Food 2040 could support the translation of research excellence into deployment" (report)

"Stakeholders highly value the systems-thinking approach introduced through Food 2030" but want the next agenda to close the gap between research and the market, reveals a report from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (R&I), published on 13/07/2026.

The report, named "Building Food 2040: Stakeholder Input for the new EU R&I Strategic Agenda for Food Systems", examines responses from an EU-wide open consultation survey that gathered 631 stakeholder responses, alongside a qualitative analysis of 63 supplementary written submissions - position papers, policy briefs, roadmaps and vision statements - from industry associations, NGOs and academic networks.
