The joint committee tasked with proposing a draft text on the provisions still under discussion in the emergency bill on agricultural protection and sovereignty met on 16 July 2026.

The bill, tabled by the Government under the fast-track procedure on 8 April 2026, was considered at first reading by the National Assembly from 19 to 22 May 2026, and was subsequently adopted with amendments by the Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee on Wednesday 17 June 2026. On Thursday 2 July 2026, the Senate adopted the draft law on agricultural protection and sovereignty at first reading, with amendments, by 219 votes in favour and 111 against.
