The fifth edition of the Smart Cities Conference will be hosted in the City of Riga (Latvia) on 17/09/2026. The event is organised jointly by the City of Riga, Riga Technical University (RTU), the University of Latvia and the innovation movement VEFRESH.

This year, the conference takes on a Baltic-Nordic dimension, bringing together participants from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and other European countries. It will serve as a platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering collaboration between cities, the public sector, academia and industry.

The central question guiding this year’s conference is: “What does it take to make urban innovation truly work?”

To explore this question, the event will gather municipalities, public authorities, businesses, universities, startups and innovation ecosystem representatives to discuss practical approaches to smarter, more resilient and sustainable urban development.
