Non-hazardous e-waste: a shift to PIC procedures would create "clear policy incoherence" (coalition)

"Non-hazardous e-waste destined for recovery within the EU should continue to benefit from the green-list procedure under the Waste Shipment Regulation beyond 01/01/2027", states a new position paper published on 09/07/2026 by a coalition, including Recycling Europe and Digital Europe.

The paper, titled "Enabling EU industrial policy through improved circular material flows : A proportionate green-list route for non-hazardous intra-EU e-waste shipments", calls on the European Commission to preserve the green-list procedure for shipments moving within the EU's Single Market.

Non-hazardous e-waste flows currently move under this procedure, relying on “traceable and environmentally sound” management systems already in place. From 01/07/2027, these flows would default to Prior Informed…
