The first annual report providing an overview of the already observable consequences of climate change in France was published by the Ministry for Ecological Transition on 9 July 2026.
In response to a recommendation from the High Council for Climate, this report is intended to be updated annually, “in order to monitor the evolution of impacts and inform public policy”.

This report highlights the acceleration of climate change in France, illustrated by the year 2025, “the fourth hottest year on record, with two major heatwaves affecting 80 per cent of the population, 78 departments subject to water use restrictions, more than 30,500 hectares burnt by forest fires and an estimated cost of natural disasters amounting to €5.2 Bn”.
