The law aimed at reducing the impact of the textile industry was published in the Official Journal on 9 July 2026, following its adoption by the National Assembly on 24 June and by the Senate on 29 June.

The legislation, which targets ultra-fast fashion, thus provides a legal definition of this practice, which induces “a reduction in the duration of use or the lifespan of products due to the placing on the market of a large number of new product variants and the lack of incentive to repair them”. This definition includes online sales, with the exception of unsold stock from French or European brands.

The law also stipulates that consumers must be informed “clearly and legibly” of the place of manufacture, next to the price.
