Régions de France : 11 proposals to position Regions as driving forces for the preservation of life

"Taking action for nature means taking action at regional level. And now, more than ever, this is a strong political choice that Régions de France is calling on us to embrace collectively, based on 11 proposals to make the regions the true driving forces behind the preservation of life", says Carole Delga, president of Régions de France, in the introduction to the white paper “Acting in the Regions for Living Organisms”, published on 1 July 2026.

For Carole Delga, the Regions have, over the past several decades, become “key players” in the ecological transition and the preservation of life. However, the president emphasises that, despite this growing influence and the responsibilities entrusted to them, they do not have financial resources “commensurate with their role”.

In addition to these resources, Régions de France is calling for “a clear framework, full and complete recognition of their role as a coordinating authority, and coordination with central government and other levels of local government”.
