The European CountEmissionsEU Regulation (2026/1030) “marks a profound shift for businesses. Carbon is no longer merely an environmental indicator: it is becoming an economic, contractual and financial consideration. “The ability to produce data compliant with the ISO 14083 standard, based on primary and verifiable data, will become a prerequisite for market access, for trust between trading partners and for establishing a transparent, explainable and fair carbon cost,” states the transport certification and rating agency TK’Blue Agency in June 2026, following the adoption of the European regulation published on 29 April 2026 on the accounting of GHG emissions from transport services, on a voluntary basis.

GHG emissions from transport services (whether freight or passenger) “can no longer be treated as mere CSR estimates.
