REP Professional Packaging: Minister Mathieu Lefèvre announces postponement of entry into force

Mathieu Lefèvre, French Minister attached to the Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity and International Climate and Nature Negotiations, with responsibility for ecological transition, has announced the postponement of the entry into force of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme for commercial packaging (with many features entailing the PPWR European regulation), originally scheduled for 1 July2026, at the Grande Assemblée organised by Les Entrepreneurs (formerly CPME) on 25 June 2026.

The entry into force will be postponed by “a few months”, according to the minister’s office, when contacted by News Tank. “The new date of entry into force will be decided shortly,” it stated.

The implementing decree had been published on 18 November 2025 in the Official Journal. Three eco-organisations — Citeo Pro, Léko Pro and Twiice — were accredited by a decree dated 3 June and published on 24 June 2026.
